About

Representative Lisa Hango was appointed by Governor Phil Scott to the Franklin-5 seat on February 14, 2019. She graduated from UVM in 1984 with a BA in Economics and worked in the computer manufacturing, retail, and Human Resources sectors in the Boston area prior to moving back to Vermont from West Virginia with her husband John in 1990. Since then, they have lived on the Hango family beef farm in Berkshire, raising their four children, caring for animals, and serving their community.

Lisa has spent the past 30 years serving on committees and boards, including positions on the Northern Mountain Valley Unified Union School Board, the Franklin County Home Health Agency Board of Directors, the RISE-VT Executive Committee, and the Northwestern Medical Center Board of Incorporators. Her career in public service has taken her from directing and teaching a weekly Catholic preschool program, establishing a children’s story hour, and leading Girl Scouts troops to volunteering at the Enosburg Food Shelf. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Berkshire Elementary and Richford Jr-Sr High School Districts for 20 years and served as the Assistant Varsity Track and Field Coach at RJSHS for 5 of those years, leaving the schools to fulfill her Legislative obligations in Montpelier, but not without recognizing the special place that working with the students and staff in Franklin Northeast Supervisory Union has in her heart.

Lisa is committed to bringing her values and experience back to the Statehouse to build on the knowledge and relationships she has established and looks forward to continuing to serve as your Representative.
